Royal Caribbean introduces new high-tech ship, Quantum of the Seas.
New or improved technology will be features on this “smartship” in a number of ways.
First, and most importantly for some, high-speed internet–notoriously expensive and unreliable in most ships– will be available to all passengers.
Guests will also receive a RFID bracelet that manages room access, dining reservations, and onboard purchases. To avoid check-in confusion, luggage left with the stevedore can also be tagged with an ID number, and with the help of an application called Royal IQ, passengers can track the whereabouts of their luggage throughout the trip.
Other high-tech features include a “robotic bartender,” and virtual balconies inside interior staterooms.
